LODDON-MALLEE recorded the strongest jobs growth in regional Victoria in the three months to December 2013, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Regional Victoria’s unemployment rate averaged 5.3 per cent over the three months to December 2013, with Victoria’s regional rate remaining the lowest of all states, said Victorian Treasurer Michael O’Brien.
In the three months to to December 2013 regional Victorian jobs grew by 0.9 per cent.
All Victorian regional areas saw growth in employment, with Loddon-Mallee District (3,600 persons) the strongest over the quarter.
Mr O'Brien said projects like the new $630 million Bendigo Hospital had contributed to the growth.
Unemployment in Loddon-Mallee has also grown. In the three months to December 2013, the unemployment rate in the region was 5.9 per cent, up 0.2 percentage points from three months ago.
