TWENTY cricket associations from across the state have descended on the city for Bendigo Country Week.
The annual competition puts players of all ages and abilities to the test in a week long competition.
Bendigo District Cricket Association secretary John Hewitt said this year’s cricket carnival has six teams in division one and two and eight teams in division three.
Mr Hewitt said Bendigo Country Week was a chance for associations from Victoria to come up against one another.
“Associations don’t really get the chance to play against each other,” he said.
“These sorts of games have fallen by the wayside so Bendigo Country Week is a chance for players to come up against different bowlers and batters.”
Mr Hewitt said the competition was also an opportunity to show off Bendigo and what it has to offer.
"These players will see the town, they will eat, drink and stay in Bendigo," he said.
