The Bendigo athlete is just one of 24 selected in the Australian Youth Volleyball squad.
He is set to attend a training camp in Thailand in March.
Haythorne said the three-week training camp was a stepping stone to making it to the championships, which will be held in Pakistan.
The Bendigo Academy of Sport athlete said only 12 volleyballers would be chosen for the championship.
“This is the year we compete in the youth championships, it is an important year, so it is really good to be selected again,” Haythorne said.
The 17-year-old was also selected in the Australian squad last year.
“I went to Thailand last year but that was only for a week and a half, we are going for three weeks this time,” he said.
“We will have a longer time to acclimatise to the environment.
“I know what to expect.”
As part of the training camp, Haythorne will play against local teams in Thailand.
“We are invited to Thailand every year,” he said.
“It is a tradition.
“The Thailand Volleyball Association love having us over there.”
