A CENTURY by Eion Morgan put England in a strong position to win Friday's one-day cricket clash with Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane.
Morgan achieved a sixth century at one-day international level as England reached 8-300.
He hit six boundaries in a score of 106 off 99 balls.
Ian Bell hit 68 for England.
Australia fell to 5-120 in the chase before Glenn Maxwell and Brad Haddin teamed for an 80-run stand.
Maxwell's superb strokeplay resulted in eight fours in a score of 54 off 39.
Earlier in the night, Shaun Marsh hit 55 runs.
Chris Jordan, Tim Bresnan and Joe Root had taken two wickets apiece.
Australia was 8-240 when the Bendigo Advertiser went to press.
