A MAN has been charged with uttering counterfeit money and obtaining property by deception.

The 56-year-old California Gully resident was charged by Bendigo Police Friday.
Acting Detective Sergeant Mark Crossley said several retailers had come forward with fake $50 notes.
“He’s alleged to have handed a counterfeit $50 note to local retail outlets,” he said.
“He’s alleged to have mainly been trying to buy clothing and food.
“It’s in relation to a spate of counterfeit $50 notes that have been handed to police over the last week by local retailers.”
He will face court on March 27.
A 33-year-old Bendigo man is being questioned by police.
