The Miners are training at the Epsom-Huntly Recreation Reserve on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30pm for seniors and juniors.
The Miners intend to field teams at senior, under-18 and under-16 levels in Victorian Rugby Union competitions this year.
The Miners are chasing their third title in a row after last year defending their crown as Victorian Country champions.
The Miners defeated the previously unbeaten Shepparton Bulls 54-25 in last year’s grand final, only four weeks after having lost 59-0 to them.
A year earlier the Miners also staged a grand final upset when they beat the Border Army Dogs 50-13 in a convincing performance.
Miners’ president Alan Wilkinson is excited about the upcoming season for the club.
“The core of the victorious teams of 2012 and 2013 will be available for us this year and we are optimistic in regards to recruitment for the upcoming season,” Wilkinson said on Thursday.
“A big disappointment for the club last year was the withdrawal of the under-18 team midway through the season.
“However, we believe that we can field a team either as a stand-alone or a joint venture this year.”
The Miners are seeking players for all three teams this year, including newcomers to rugby union.
