Crawford was up against some of the country’s best athletes at the championships, which were held in Adelaide this week.
He won the medal in an under-15 team of four.
Volleyballer Alex Holmes also competed in the under-15 competition.
His team finished fourth, after losing in the bronze medal playoff.
Evan Shelton played in the under-17 category but missed out on playing in medal matches.
The trio are all Bendigo Bank Academy of Sport athletes.
Squad coach Todd Broadbent said Crawford’s silver medal was an outstanding achievement.
“All three players have done well,” he said.
“To win a silver medal at an Australian championships, it is pretty special.”
Broadbent said Holmes and Shelton should also be proud.
“To represent Victoria is an achievement in itself,” he said.
More than 200 participants from across the country took part in the four-day event.
Broadbent said the searing heat had forced matches to be played earlier in the day.
“Matches were played between 6.30am and 9am and then again later at night,” he said.
