Vicky Jones and her family, of Long Gully, are regulars at the reservoir at Kangaroo Flat.
"Mostly we like to come out here to swim, we also have cool showers, sit under our air conditioner or go to the Loddon river ... wherever there is water really," she said.
Panel beater Simon Elliot had headed out for a swim on his lunch break with a couple of mates and was loving it.
Marita Austin visited the reservoir with her aunty and after going to see the cricket on Tuesday night they were desperate to cool down.
"We have come here a couple of times this week," she said.
"We also have a caravan at Lake Eppalock so we spend a bit of time out there," she said.
Simon Tucker, of Geelong, is working at Lansell Plaza for the next 12 months and had been searching for hours for a place to cool off.
He wasn't disappointed.
"We got sent home from work because it was too hot but four guys sitting under an air-conditioner is bit weird so we came here," he said.
Taylah Nicholson, Chloe Sayle and Kourtnie Prolongeau enjoyed swimming back and forth from the pontoon.
"We went and bought kids' floaty toys, too. They're the best purchases I have made all year,"Chloe Sayle said.
