Modern Love is the first international touring exhibition from Los Angeles' FIDM Museum and will close on February 2.
It features works by influential fashion designers including Issey Miyake, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Oscar de la Renta.
The exhibition reflects fashion in the contemporary world with works ranging from haute couture designs to t-shirts,and high top runners to shoes worn by Samantha Jones in Sex in the City.
Bendigo Art Gallery senior curator Leanne Fitzgibbon said the exhibition had been well-recieved by the public.
"People have enjoyed not only the fantastic examples of fashion from the past 40 years but also the audio which accompanies the exhibition," she said.
"I would encourage people to come along and enjoy the gallery - it is certainly the place to stay cool."
Ms Fitzgibbon said Modern Love was a good exhibition to enjoy with family and friends, or alone.
"A highlight for many visitors is the large screen projection of runway footage which demonstrates how the fashion is suppose to be worn," she said.
Tickets for Modern Love can be purchased from the Capital in View Street.
The gallery will be closed to the public from February 3-16 while a new exhibition is constructed.
