Distance series run called off

THE forcecast of extreme heat on Thursday has forced the Flack Advisory distance series run for athletes to be cancelled.

Organisers have moved the 1000m to Thursday, January 23 at 6.50pm.

The long-running and popular series is held in conjuction with the Bendigo and District Cycling Club's track program on Thursday nights.

Track cycling at the Tom Flood Sports Centre in Barnard Street is held on Thursdays from 7pm for juniors and seniors.

It's free entry for spectators.

Meanwhile, Athletics Bendigo's track and field season resumes this Saturday at the La Trobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Flora Hill.

First events will be run at 1.30pm.

Saturday's program includes additional high jump at 1.30pm, non championship, and the 4 x 100m relays.

An extra throws event will be shot put. Reverse times to the javelin.

A goal is for some extra competition in the lead-up to the Victoria Country track and field titles to be run on the Australia Day holiday weekend in Ballarat.
