Car crashes into a tree in Knowsley

A 70-YEAR-OLD man is in hospital with broken ribs after his car crashed into a tree in Knowsley.

The man from Carapooee West crashed into a tree on Sunday on the Derrinal-Crosby Road which caused the tree to fall on his car.

Heathcote Police Sergeant John Olver said initial reports said there was a man trapped in the car but he was out when they got there.

"We got the call at 10.10am," he said.

“He crashed into a tree and then the tree fell on the car.

“He lost control of the car but the major contributor is the road.

 “He has several broken ribs.”

Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the man had been taken to Bendigo Base Hospital and was in a stable condition.
