Courtney Keast has undergone two neurosurgeries and is in a serious condition.
Her family has released a statement thanking paramedics and hospital staff for their support in a difficult time.
A Royal Children’s Hospital spokeswoman said the girl had been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition Friday night but her condition was now listed as serious.
Police have seized a boat, believed to have been involved in the collision.
A 45-year-old Doreen man was arrested and interviewed. He has been released pending further enquiries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
UPDATE 8.20AM SATURDAY: Police will continue to search for a boat involved in a hit-run crash at Lake Eppalock last night that left a 12-year-old girl in a critical condition.
The girl suffered facial and head injuries and remains in a serious condition at the Royal Children's Hospital.
An ambulance spokesman said a 15-year-old boy and a man in his 40s suffered bumps to the head.
Bendigo police say they will continue their investigations today.
They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with further information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
UPDATE 10.25PM FRIDAY: POLICE helicopters are searching Lake Eppalock for a boat involved in a hit-run crash that left a 12-year-old girl in a critical condition.
The Police Air Wing, Water Police and Bendigo police officers remained on scene Friday night.
The boat they were seeking was described as a 6m ski vessel.
A police spokeswoman said the boat fled the scene after it collided with another boat just before 7.50pm.
The 12-year-old girl, who was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital was on of three people injured. A man in his 40s and a 15-year-old boy were both treated with bumps to the head and taken to Bendigo Health.
