The pair endured blistering heat throughout the event, which ran for four days beginning on Boxing Day.
The event, usually runs over five days, however was cut short due to the heat.
In total the Bendigo kayakers paddled 172 kilometres.
The duo, who have competed in the marathon three times before, say they knew what to expect heading into the race.
McLean said despite the cancellation of one stage, he thought the conditions were much cooler than previous years.
He said the kayak the pair used helped win them the marathon.
“We were in a K2, a racing kayak and there was only two other people in our start and they were in a TK2, which is much slower than our kayak,” McLean said.
Thanks to their win the Catholic College Bendigo students will travel to Ballarat to take part in the 2014 Australian Canoe Marathon Championships in April.
Last year they took part in the event for the first time.
The duo finished fourth, but were disqualified for not crossing the finishing line correctly.
Teasdale said the pair had learned from the mistake and were ready to take on the best paddlers in the country.
