Ron Symons who owns Bendigo Uptown Auto Sales opposite where the accident happened on Monday said it was unclear what had caused the man in his 60s to fall off.
“I spoke to his brother and they think either he had a heart attack or an epileptic fit, which he has had before.
“He fell forwards and the wheels have gone to the left and he has gone nose first into the asphalt. He had a helmet on but there’s not a mark on it and the bike is ok, it was all his face.
“He stopped breathing while we were there and he was gushing blood, it was all over the pavement.
“Luckily there was a lady from Bendigo Health who was going past and she started doing CPR; he wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for her.”
The man remained in a serious condition in hospital Tuesday night.
