UPDATE 2PM: ACTOR and now unicyclist Samuel Johnson is almost in Bendigo as part of his 15,000km fundraising marathon.
Johnson was snapped riding along the Midland Hwy, just outside Bendigo, this afternoon and is due to arrive into Pall Mall any minute. He is currently at White Hills.
EARLIER: ACTOR and now unicyclist Samuel Johnson will arrive in Bendigo today as part of his 15,000km fundraising marathon.
Connie is my hero
The Love Your Sister fundraiser has seen Johnson travelled more than 13,000km on his unicycle to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.
Best known for his role in The Secret Life of Us, Crackerjack and Rush, Johnson's aim is to break the Guiness World Record of 14,600 kms and raise $1 million to help fins a cure for cancer. He has already raised $1.2 million.
Bendigo Bank, which is a major sponsor of the campaign, has hosted a number of fundraising events during Johnson's journey. He will visit the Bendigo team today when he rolls into town and down Pall Mall at about 3pm.
"Sam will meet with our team in the lead up to a number of Love Your Sister fundraising events the bank will host over the Labour Day weekend," Bendigo Bank's Lauren Andrews said.
"We're encouraging everyone to get behind the cause, make a donation and join us at one of the upcoming events."
The Daylesford actor is also taking on extra challenges along the way and has so far eaten a live huntsman spider and rode his unicycle off a 60-metre high platform while attached to a bungee cord.
And all in the name of supporting his sister, Connie, who has terminal breast cancer.
"Connie is my hero, she's fought cancer as a kid and won and is currently battling breast cancer," Johnson said.
"Faced with the fight of her life, she set me the toughest challenge she could think of and dared me to set a new world record, raise $1 million to help find a cure for cancer and spread her important message of breast cancer awareness.
His journey ends at Federation Square on February 13.
