BENDIGONIANS were battening down the hatches yesterday as strong winds swept across the region.
The State Emergency Services confirmed there were 17 requests for assistance in the area throughout the day.
“It was mainly tree damage related to the wind,” a spokesperson said.
“The vast majority of incidents were trees that were down or building damage caused by falling branches; but there was nothing notable and no one was hurt.”
The Bureau of Meterology issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds for people in the South West, Central and West and South Gippsland forecast districts with damaging winds around 55 km/h with peak gusts of 90 km/h to 100 km/h.
