A FORMER Bendigo man is fighting an uphill battle, after being king hit in Bali last November.
Matt Scarff remains in a high dependency ward at the Royal Perth Hospital, where he is unable to speak or eat by himself.
The 41-year-old suffered significant head injuries when he was hit outside a club in Seminyak in November; he was placed in a coma and underwent ongoing surgery.
His family say the injury has taken a huge toll on his body.
"He has lost a lot of weight and a feeding tube has been inserted into his stomach to help him get his strength back," they said on Facebook.
"He is able to stand and walk for short distances with some assistance and this will only improve when he gets stronger."
They said a tracheostomy tube in his mouth meant Mr Scarff could only mouth words.
"Understandably this is very frustrating for him but is also hard on us as we are missing his stories."
However he is not alone in his fight, with people from across the world pledging more than $100,000 to support his recovery.
His family say almost 800 people have raised $107,592 to help his ongoing fight.
This has helped pay for the CareFlight emergency evacuation and all Bali medical expenses.
