Mr Drum announced the funding in front of more than 500 athletes and supporters and said the funding was "a great win for Victorian athletics".
“The event is one of five World Masters Regional Championships providing an opportunity for senior athletes to not only play sport, but excel well into their senior years," Mr Drum said.
“Events like major athletics meets are a great opportunity to showcase Victoria’s fantastic regional centres to even more people around the world."
Mr Drum commended Athletics Bendigo, Australian Masters Athletics and the City of Greater Bendigo for their efforts in staging the 2014 Oceania Masters Athletics Championships.
“One of the key attractions of being involved in the Oceania Masters Championships is the social interaction and the spirit of camaraderie experienced by competitors and spectators alike," Mr Drum said.
“The championships also help to inspire Victorians to take up sport and lead more healthy and active lifestyles.
“The Victorian Government is proud to support events like these as they promote the importance of a lifelong commitment to sport and staying active."
