THE Eaglehawk Bowling Club is encouraging school-aged students to take off their shoes and play bowls.

The club is running a barefoot bowls school holiday program on January 9, 16 and 23 from 10am to 12pm.
Program co-ordinators Bill Boyle and John MacDonald said bowling was a good way to kept fit and active, and have fun.
"It's a good form of exercise," Mr MacDonald said.
"These days lots of young people play bowls.
"The Australian bowls team is younger than the Australian cricket team."
Mr Boyle said the program was open to all schools - all students had to do was inquire with the club.

Cost is $5 per participant.
The club will host a barefoot bowls corporate challenge from February 4 to March 11 at 6.30pm.
"We have a corporate competition for businesses to enjoy some bowling," he said.
"Lots of organisations and business have their breakups (at the club).
"It's a lot of fun."
