Man flees from Highway Patrol, crashes into unmarked police car

A Bendigo man will face court today after he attempted to flee from police and crashed into an unmarked Highway Patrol car on Alice Street in Flora Hill last night.

Acting Senior Sergeant Della Nihill said the 34-year-old male caused damage worth $2000 to the police car and crashed into another car when the offender tried to drive away from a marked Highway Patrol car at 8.15pm.

"The man was parked in a communal driveway at a block of flats," she said.

"He has seen our marked police car and attempted to get away.

"He has then crashed into an unmarked police car, gone up onto a garden bed, then driven into a citizen's car.

"The man was wanted for three outstanding warrants.

"He has received 17 further charges as a result of trying to flee.

"We received an anonymous tip off that he was at the Flora Hill property."

The man was arrested and remanded in custody.
