The annual family event marked its 40th anniversary this year, with the help of the community.
The local pizza shop opens solely to provide dinner to the masses, and a local business even pitches in a marquee to make sure the day goes ahead.
More than 80 people trek from Melbourne, Ocean Grove and even Queensland to attend the day at John and Margaret McInerney's Golden Square home.
Mrs McInerney said family rivalry was strong, with young and old battling it at out the yearly games.
"We might get competitive but ultimately the idea for the tradition came from a desire to keep in touch," she said.
"There's some people here who have never missed one day and it's about honesty and closeness.
"It's important this keeps going, for all of us."
