Mr Hargreaves, who had grown his beard for the past six months, raised more than $3000 to the St Luke's Christmas Tree Appeal after listeners donated for him to shave it off.
"I put up a picture of myself on the 3BO Facebook page and listeners told me to get rid of my beard," he said.
"Listeners said it looked disgusting.
"I have been amazed by the generosity of Bendigo residents.
"I am happy to get rid of my beard and raise money for such a worthy cause."
St Luke's marketing manager Jacqui Mott said the community spirit Mr Hargreaves generated was outstanding.
Mr Hargreaves said people could still donate towards the St Luke's Christmas Tree Appeal until Monday at 5pm by sending an SMS with your full name and the amount who want to donate to 0428 326 326.
