Sam Hargreaves told listeners he would get rid of his beard if $2000 was donated to the charity.
"I'm kind of sad to lose my beard," he said.
"I'm going to miss it."
Mr Hargreaves said listeners told him to shave off his beard after he posted a picture of himself on the 3BO Facebook page.
"I asked listeners what to do with my beard," he said.
"They overwhelmingly voted for me to get rid of it."
Mr Hargreaves said listeners had so far raised almost $2500 to go towards disadvantaged families who do it tough during Christmas.
"(Former Australian cricketer) Adam Gilchrist donated $300," he said.
"He told me I looked like Tom Hanks from Cast Away and that he was keen to make sure the beard was gone as soon as possible.
"I wasn't sure if I should be moved by his generosity or offended."
St Luke's Marketing Manager, Jacqui Mott said the community spirit generated by Sam was outstanding and very much appreciated by the not-for-profit organisation.
"Our Christmas Tree Appeal this year is aiming to distribute Christmas cheer by way of books, toys and hampers to 1000 vulnerable families in our community - those who need a helping hand come Christmas day,'' she said.
"On behalf of St Luke's, I heartily thank 3BO, our generous community, Sam and the team for the efforts they have made to raise funds for our appeal. With the $2000-plus sum raised by 3BO, the St Luke's Christmas Shop staff can purchase items to complement what has already been so wonderfully donated.
"Sam has topped Movember - by taking it to 'Decembearder' and we hope he enjoys being clean-shaven once again.''
