"He's come around the bend there and there seems to have been some sort of difficulty," he said.
"He's entered the gravel shoulder and then gone straight through into the trees and has been wedged into a tree."
UPDATE, 10.57AM: Police believe the 56-year-old man was riding east along Old Tullaroop Road near Maryborough about 9am when he failed to negotiate a bend in the road and collided into a tree.
The man died at the scene.
A passer-by located the scene at 9.30am and alerted emergency services.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

UPDATE, 10.52AM: The blue motorcycle is wedged between the forks of a tree. Police remain on the scene.

A man has died after his motorbike hit a tree on Old Tullaroop Road near Maryborough on Thursday morning.
Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the man was believed to be in his 50s.
