Harley Hicks, 20, will face trial on February 28 next year in the Supreme Court sitting in Bendigo.
Hicks’ defence counsel applied to have the venue changed because of publicity surrounding the case.
The appeal was denied in the Supreme Court in Melbourne on Wednesday.
Police allege Hicks killed the infant during a robbery spree on June 15, 2012.
Zayden was 11 months old.
