The odour detected beyond the boundary of the Lockwood farm was one of 13 incidents investigated by the Enivronmental Protection Authority in October.
Hazeldenes was given an official warning after the EPA said the putrid smell counted as a breach of their licence conditions.
The release of thousands of litres of treated waste water near Kyneton was also subject to an EPA investigation.
The EPA said about 400,000 litres of waste water entered Snipes Creek between July 18 and 26.
Coliban Water received a penalty infringement notice when it was found the water authority had been releasing the water into an unlicensed discharge point at the creek.
EPA environmental regulation director Chris Webb warned anyone who breached environmental law would be subject to compliance action.
He said the EPA was increasingly trying to be proactive in preventing environmental issues.
