The young man in front of them in the queue told the cashier to put Vi’s groceries through with his own.
Vi offered to give him the money but he refused.
“He was adamant that he wanted to pay for them,” she said.
“I’m 77 and I’ve never had anyone do anything like that for me.”
All the man would tell Vi is that his name was Chris and he wanted to do something nice for Christmas.
“It was about $40 worth of groceries and no matter what I said to him, he wouldn’t let me pay for them,” she said.
“I had my intellectually disabled son with me, I don’t know if that was the reason but I gave him a big kiss and a hug.
“I couldn’t believe it."
