He has been volunteering for most of his life and helps out at Gravel Hill Community Garden twice a week, building furniture and doing odd jobs and maintenance.
Mr Worthington has also built two pizza ovens, one in the community garden and another for Bendigo Senior Secondary College.
He also shares his building and woodwork skills at the Salvation Army’s Men In Sheds program once a week.
The ex-serviceman moved to Bendigo in 1967 and was a training officer with the SES for almost 20 years before retiring.
Mr Worthington’s passion for helping other people keeps him active and he has always happy to lend his talents to the community.
“I used to be, a bricklayer, tiler, concreter and overall handyman,” he said.
“I like to use those skills to help out in the community as well.
“If any friends need a hand I’m always happy to help them out.”
