Dwyer was charged by Racing Victoria stewards after a prohibited substance, Ibuprofen (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory), was detected in a pre-race urine sample taken from his galloper Anudjawun at Caulfield on October 16.
Dwyer was charged under Australian Rule of Racing 178:
“When any horse that has been brought to a racecourse for the purpose of engaging in a race and a prohibited substance is detected in any sample taken from it prior to or following its running in any race, the trainer and any other person who was in charge of such horse at any relevant time may be penalised.”
Anudjawun ran ninth in that race at Caulfield.
This is the first time Dwyer has been charged by RV stewards.
The charge issued against Dwyer will be heard before the RAD Board at 1.30pm on Wednesday.
