New hospital showcases local talent

The Bendigo Advertiser is continuing to publish a series of profiles on some of the people helping to build the new Bendigo Hospital.

JESSIE Mackin is helping to shape history by playing a key role in the new Bendigo Hospital project.

Ms Mackin, 25, is a Bendigo Health project manager for the multi-million dollar project.

Ms Mackin was "born and bred" in Bendigo and said it was fantastic to be involved in something of such magnitude in her home town.

"I love it," she said.

"I love Bendigo and working on this project is so exciting.

"I feel extremely fortunate to be involved in such an amazing project."

Ms Mackin said she was fortunate to be working alongside people with a wealth of industry experience.

"That's really valuable to me," she said.

"Not only are we going to get this world class hospital at the end of the project but seeing local trades involved in our projects is really great for the community.

"Working on something of this magnitude locally is fantastic."

Ms Mackin started work at Bendigo Health in 2010 as a project support officer with the buildings and infrastructure department.

"After the hospital project was announced I was appointed as a project support officer on the construction management team for the hospital project.

"As a team we have delivered the enabling works for the new hospital role began as financial reporting and project administration duties, including funding claiming for all our submissions just to make sure all our projects were delivered on time and that we didn't have any delays.

"Then I began working on the Youth Prevention and Rehab Care project with the fixtures, furnishings and equipment portion of the work and continued on with work on recent decanting projects.

"Bendigo Health recognised the additional duties I was doing and recently appointed me to a project management role.""
