Surfer attacked by shark at Shelly Beach on NSW mid-north coast

A surfer is in a stable condition after being bitten by a shark on the New South Wales mid-north coast last night.

The 26-year-old man was surfing at Shelly Beach near Port Macquarie about 6:00pm (AEDT) when he felt something hit his hand. 

Fatal stabbing at Melbourne mosque

Police have charged a 22-year-old man with the stabbing death of an elderly man at a mosque in Dallas in Melbourne's north-western suburbs.

Erol Elmas, from Broadmeadows, faced an out-of-sessions court hearing on Thursday night at the St Kilda Road police centre.

He was charged with one count of murder.
