A final service is being held at 3pm on Sunday before the building goes to auction the following weekend as one of 56 Uniting Church properties sold to clear debts.
Norma Jacka who has been fighting to save the 160-year-old church said she was very sad to see it go but they were “simply running out of time”.
“We are still trying, and hoping and praying that it will stay in the community. But we have to accept it.”
Meanwhile Reverend Michele Lees, who will be giving the closing service along with Reverend Don Whitelaw and Reverend Mike Lewis, said it will be a "subdued" service.
“It is sad the church door will be closed as a place of worship.”
