Dozens of customers are hundreds of dollars out of pocket and without answers, after the Bendigo store went into liquidation earlier this year.

Liquidator KPMG has written to all customers who are owed outstanding goods, saying it is still unknown whether refunds will be given.  

"It is currently uncertain if there will be sufficient realisations to allow a return to unsecured creditors," it said.

"We will write to all creditors again once we have completed our investigations into the companies’ affairs and determined whether there are sufficient funds to pay a dividend to creditors."

Customer Lee McLennan, who has paid $1000 and owes $300 on his fridge lay-by, said he had lost all faith in getting his money back.

"They've told us the product wasn't in store at the time, that's why we couldn't get it, but we know it was because we saw it," he said.

"There are probably a lot of  other customers out there who are being ripped off too.
"They always say shop local, but when this happens it turns you right off."

Mr McLennan has been told the liquidators will charge Warehouse Sales upwards of $400,000 to carry out the task.

"They're getting $650 an hour to do this and we're the poor buggers missing out," he said.

Epsom’s Fiona Grant also paid $1100 off a $1400 fridge at the Mitchell Street retailer.

Ms Grant was planning to pay the remaining $300 left on the lay-by one day before the store closed.

"I've tried ringing the number on the door and it doesn’t work," she said early October.

"It's frustrating. Last week I told the staff I would pick it up this week, and now they've closed.”

Questions have been directed to KPMG, which have not returned calls.

KPMG partner and co-liquidator of Warehouse Sales, Damian Templeton, said in early October that the company had no choice but to close its doors.

The Bendigo outlet was one of several Warehouse Sales stores to close as part of the liquidation.

The Warehouse Sales building in Mitchell Street has now been put up for lease.
