A THICK plume of smoke that could be seen on Bendigo's northern horizon yesterday was from a planned burn.
Bendigo Country Fire Authority station manager Bryan Suckling said a number of planned burns were taking place at this time of year and people should not be alarmed if they see smoke.
"People need to use some cautious at the moment because there are a lot of registered burns happening," he said.
"Land managers need to make sure their on top of their fuel."
Mr Suckling said the CFA had attended one false alarm in Myers Flat Tuesday morning.
He said people should be aware there are planned burns in the area.
