THERE was a real family feel to Bendigo Health’s big Bendigo Bank Fun Run.
While the more serious competitors tested their endurance on the 15-kilometre course, the 5km run/walk attracted people from all walks of life.
Mums and dads pushed babies in prams, siblings raced each other to the finish line and some of the older entrants relied on their walking sticks to help them make the distance.
James Pattinson, 13, joined his aunt Jenny on the 10-kilometre run.
"This is Jame's first year," Jenny said.
"I did it last year and James asked if I'd do it with him.
"He's got a few friends doing the five-kilometer run but he wanted to take it a step further.
"It's a good family day, it's a fun day."
Sporting groups, local businesses and organisations including Victoria Police also took part in the event.
The Bendigo Bowls Club made the most of the opportunity to catch up with mates.
"There are seven of us walking the five-kilometre event," Rosie Punton said.
"It's our first time.
"We entered because so that we could have a bit of fun together and at the same time raise some money."
