FORMER Maiden Gully volleyballer Eliza Karley Hynes is enjoying a successful start to her professional playing career in Finland.
The 21-year-old's OrPo team sits second on the national women's league ladder after the first four matches of the 2013-14 season.
Despite the disappointment of dropping their opening game against LP Viesti on October 14 after leading by two sets, the side has since turned up the heat on the opposition.
Hynes wrote on Facebook it was a "tough loss to accept", but also a "promising start to our season, as we can only go up".
And that is exactly what OrPo has done.
They scored a 3-1 win over Woman Volley six days later, then followed up with a 3-0 victory over HPK last Saturday and had another comfortable 3-1 result against Pieksamaki on Wednesday.
Hynes represented Australia at both schoolgirl netball and volleyball as a junior, then won a bronze medal at the world youth beach volleyball championships in 2010.
She recently switched back to the indoor game and made her Australian senior debut before securing a playing contract with OrPo in southern Finland.
