Bendigo takes down the Rangers
THE Bendigo Bank Spirit produced a gutsy performance on the road to down Dandenong and give champion guard Kristi Harrower a fitting end to her 300th WNBL game on Thursday night.
The Spirit (5-1) inflicted Dandenong's first loss of the season 63-51 and leapfrogged the Rangers into top spot after its fifth-straight win.
Bendigo only led 43-42 at the final change.
The victory extended the Spirit's stranglehold over Dandenong to seven wins-in-a-row.
Bendigo's height has troubled teams this season and it was no different against Dandenong.
Although the rebound count (39-36) wasn't as lop-sided as recent matches, Bendigo's top scorers were all talls.
Gabe Richards, Kelsey Griffin and Elyse Penaluna combined for 41 points and 23 rebounds. There was more than just the win to celebrate for Harrower, who reached 4000 career points with a two-pointer in the last term.
Jenna O'Hea scored her 10 points after half-time to equal top-score for Dandenong.
