CLEMENTA O'Brien knows all there is to know about the Bendigo Cup - she's been going for more than 50 years.
The Bendigo Jockey Club member celebrated the occasion yesterday with a group of close friends and said attending the Cup was "the local thing to do".
"It has changed over the years, there is more activity and more interest from outside of Bendigo," she said.
"I love coming and know all the jockeys and trainers."
Friend Noelene Scales said Ms O'Brien loved to place a bet.
"She likes betting on the races - she knows all about the races," Ms Scales said.
"She also enjoys watching the fashions on the field event."
Ms Scales said the races were a chance to dress up and enjoy a fun day with friends.
"You can dress up and wear a hat - we're getting old but it's still fun," she said.
When Ms O'Brien was asked if she would return next year - she was quick to reply.
"Of course," she said.
"At least several more years I hope."
