VIKTORIJA Rajicic crashed back to earth with a thud in the first round of the second William Loud Bendigo International on Tuesday.
Last week, Rajicic stunned second seed Olivia Rogowska in the opening round of the first $50,000 Pro Tour events.
But this time she was on the receiving end of a 3-6 6-4 6-4 loss to Tammi Patterson.
Rajicic trailed 5-2 in the deciding set before threatening a last-gasp comeback at 5-4.
But world no. 375 Patterson held her nerve to upset her fellow Melbournian, ranked 279th.
Patterson will likely face 2012 champion Arina Rodionova in the second round.
In other round one singles matches, fifth seed Sachie Ishizu wiped wildcard Nicole Hoynaski 6-0 6-0.
Ishizu won 58 of the 81 points for the match and converted six of eight break point opportunities in an energetic display.
Ishizu hit a road block in the form of top seed Irina Falconi in the quarter-finals last week.
The Japanese star is scheduled to meet Rodionova in the quarters this time, but first must overcome a tough round of 16 assignment against Belarus' Ysaline Bonaventure.
Bonaventure absorbed the best shots Melbourne's Karolina Wlodarczak could offer before putting the foot down in the second set on Tuesday.
The Belarussian led 5-3 in the first set, before ripping through seven of the next eight games to win 6-3 6-1.
Japan's Michika Ozeki rounded-out the final singles match on Tuesday by shocking Daiana Negreanu.
Ozeki, ranked 747 in the world, outgunned the Romanian world number 507 in straight sets 6-3 6-2.
Ozeki pounced on Negreanu's serve and broke her opponent six times from seven opportunities.
