The Bendigo Advertiser will dedicate Roll of Honour to volunteers for the Bendigo Fun Run this week in the build up to Sunday's event.
THIS is George Egan's second year volunteering as a marshall for the Bendigo Fun Run. He says that it is a worthy cause that a friend suggested he get involved in last year.
"I was asked by a friend to do it. I enjoyed it so much that I came back again this year. I'll probably keep doing it. I like it because it gives back to the community," he said.
Mr Egan runs a computer company and has lived here most of his life. He moved to Melbourne for ten years but returned to raise his family.
"We had some land in Maiden Gully so we came back. There's a great mix of people and community spirit here," Mr Egan said.
On Sunday he will be directing traffic and making sure everybody knows what they are doing.
"I'll be ensuring everyone does what they are supposed to do and keeping an eye out for runners that may be dehydrated. I met with the other marshallers last week and we're all ready to go."
The Bendigo Advertiser’s Roll of Honour recognises volunteers and office-bearers who work for their community without seeking reward. If you know of a volunteer who merits recognition, email email@example.com or phone 03 5434 4470
