ABOUT 32 students from Bendigo South East College will compete at the national finals of the Science and Engineering Challenge on Wednesday.
The team is made up of year 9 and 10 students, with science teacher and co-ordinator of the team Lloyd Jones positive the group can do well.
"We have taken part the last four years," he said.
"The best we have come is fourth but I think we can do better this year."
Students will be split into eight teams of four and will be required to undertake a series of challenges to culminate points for their team.
"It is about promoting maths and science so that more students study it during year 11, 12 and at university," Mr Jones said.
The team will leave for Lismore on Tuesday morning and return on Thursday.
