THE finishing touches for Wednesday’s Bendigo Cup are being putting in place.
More than 10,000 punters from across central Victoria are expected to flock to the Bendigo Jockey Club, for what is one of the city’s biggest events of the year.
Bendigo Jockey Club chief executive officer Ian Hart said he couldn’t have scripted how well the planning for the event has gone.
“There have been some light showers about but it looks like the weather for Wednesday is going to be terrific,” he said.
“It couldn’t be better."
Mr Hart said the Jockey Club was in pristine condition ahead of the big day.
“Cup day will be spectacular,” he said.
“The marquees are all up, we will have about 4000 corporate guests.
“There will be lots of colour and shade is lots of colour and shade."
There is 10 races on the Bendigo Cup draw card.
The first is at noon with the main race scheduled for 4pm.
The last race of the day is at 5.20pm
Myer ambassador Lauren Phillips is this year's guest of honour, she will judge the Fashions on the Field event alongside several other Bendigo judges.
“The Cup is a great chance for work colleagues, family and friends to get dressed up and have some fun," Mr Hart said.
“I think we have a reputation for having the best regional fashions.
"This year we have $15,000 worth of prizes up for grabs."
Mr Hart said a kid’s zone would be set up track side for the first time this year.
