TWENTY years ago two couples decided they would start playing a TattsLotto ticket together. On Saturday night their numbers came up and they won a division one prize of more than $1 million.
The couples purchased their entry from Long Gully Lotto, 3 Wood Street in Long Gully. The four players will split a division one prize plus other divisional amounts totalling $1,068,829.86.
A Tatts representative shocked the registered ticketholder with the official division one winner’s phonecall this morning.
“Normally when someone calls this time of morning it’s a telemarketer,” the winner said.
“This has just paid our house off!"
“My mate and I have played with the same numbers together every week for 20 years. We were just sitting around one night and thought we’d start a TattsLotto syndicate with our wives…and now we’ve actually won.”
The winner Tatts spoke to said both couples are in their 40s and 50s and will each settle their mortgages with the prize money and do some home renovations.
“My lovely wife has wanted a new car for years and I’ve just patched up the old one time and time again. I can’t wait to call her to tell her we can buy a new car now too!” the winner added.
The man also said that he plans to donate part of his prize to a worthy cause.
“I’ll be able to give the local fire brigade a helping hand as well.”
The winners plan to keep their good news quiet for the time being and have chosen to remain anonymous.
Throughout Australia, there were four entries that won a first division share of TattsLotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool in draw 3367, each worth $1,049,492.46. Along with the winning entry purchased in Victoria, two were purchased in New South Wales, and one was purchased in Queensland.
The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 3367 on 26 October 2013 were 44, 16, 21, 13, 33 and 9 with the supplementary numbers of 11 and 20.
