BENDIGO'S Sam Irwin-Hill has been placed on the watch list for the prestigious Ray Guy Award which honours America's best college football punter.
Irwin-Hill has been creating a big impression for his punting ability in his first season of American College Football with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Augusta Sports Council announced a list of 85 punters for the watch list at the weekend.
Irwin-Hill's is averaging 43.8 yards a punt to rank seventh in the Southeastern Conference and 22nd nationally in punting average this season.
Irwin-Hill has placed 12 punts inside the 20-yard line.
The Ray Guy Award watch list will be cut to 10 semi-finalists on November 8 with three finalists revealed on November 25.
The Ray Guy Award will be presented on December 12.
The watch list nomination comes two weeks after Irwin Hill was named Southeastern Conference special teams player of the week for his performance against South Carolina.
