GOLDEN Square has plenty of work to do if it's to live up to its pre-season hype as a Bendigo Bowls Division flag challenger after copping a 47-shot hammering from Castlemaine on Saturday.
Castlemaine crushed Square 121-74 in a dominant performance headlined by wins to the rinks of the undefeated Geoff Walsh, Rod Phillips and Rick Parr.
The win was Castlemaine's second of the season, while Square is 1-3 and yet to make its mark on the competition.
• In the BBD's historic first twilight match, Eaglehawk ended Kangaroo Flat's unbeaten start to the season with a 25-shot win.
The Hawks won 99-74 to continue their stranglehold over the Flat.
The rinks of the unbeaten Simon Carter, Phil Godkin and Tony Ellis were all victorious for the Hawks, who moved back to the top of the ladder.
• Bendigo East has won two games in a row and moved into the top four for the first time this season after an all-rinks 114-83 victory at Inglewood.
• Reigning premier Bendigo proved too strong for South Bendigo, recording a 22-shot victory at home, 106-84.
