Rhys Irwin claimed the brilliant of 7-46 off 22.4 overs for the Demons in a man-of-the-match performance.
Irwin's seven wickets included four catches by wicket-keeper Brayden Stepien and three bowled as he reaped the benefit of a superb line and length.
Since 2000, only Glenn Roulston (8-63) and Kevin Foreman (7-44) have claimed better bowling figures for the Demons.
The top-scorer for the Jets was Cory Devanny (45 n.o.).
The game will now continue into a second innings.
