SHAUN Dwyer is confident Mantener La Fe is not just making up the numbers in Saturday's Group Two AAMI Vase (2040m) at Moonee Valley.
The Bendigo trainer has always had a good opinion of the three-year-old and he expects the son of Keep The Faith to run a big race.
"He's done a great job,'' Dwyer said.
"Originally we were going towards the Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) and Sandown Guineas (1600m), but I'm confident the 2000m of this race will suit him."
Mantener La Fe impressed when running a gutsy second behind Tips And Beers over 1600m at Caulfield last start.
Mantener La Fe is rated a $14 chance.
