BUSH'S Produce Stores and the Bendigo Advertiser are teaming up to reward this season's Bendigo District Cricket Association Twenty20 Player of the Year.
The BDCA's annual Twenty20 tournament kicks off with the opening round this Sunday.
For the first time there will be a Player of the Year award, with major sponsor Bush's Produce Stores to provide a $500 in-store voucher to the winner.
After each Twenty20 game, the Bendigo Advertiser sports department will cast 10 votes per match, rewarding the standout players.
Bush's Produce Stores, located in Williamson Street, specialises in premium pet food, pet stock, farm and rural supplies and gardening products.
"We think the BDCA Twenty20 competition is a fantastic concept and we're pleased to have an involvement in it," Bush's Produce Stores director Damian O'Brien said on Thursday.
"Hopefully, a Player of the Year Award gives all the players a bit of extra incentive to go out and put on an even better spectacle for the BDCA and continue to grow the interest in the Twenty20 brand."
This year is the sixth season of the BDCA Twenty20 tournament.
The defending champion is Strathfieldsaye, with the competition to run until January, culminating in the grand final at the QEO.
Round one games from 1pm this Sunday: Bendigo United v Sandhurst; Golden Square v Kangaroo Flat; White Hills v Huntly-North Epsom; Strathfieldsaye v Bendigo.
