THE Bendigo District Cricket Association's annual Twenty20 tournament kicks off this Sunday and Bendigo United is keen to make its home game against Sandhurst a day for the family.
The Redbacks will host Sandhurst at Harry Trott Oval from 1pm on Sunday, but the day's action will get under way earlier with a junior clinic.
Bendigo United will hold a Grill'd Junior Clinic from 10.30am for all Redbacks' players.
As part of the clinic, Bendigo United senior players will provide one-on-one coaching for the next generation of Redbacks.
Following the junior clinic, the presentations will be held for the John Turner Memorial Shield and best player medals from the Bendigo United v Sandhurst round three BDCA games that finish on Saturday.
Sunday's Twenty20 match between the Redbacks and Dragons is being sponsored by Reuben Beazley Builders and includes $100 for players who hit the Reuben Beazley signs and $50 for a crowd catch.
The boundaries will be roped off to allow juniors onto the ground during play, while the club's training facility will also be open.
A barbecue and refreshments will also be available during the day.
This season is the sixth year the BDCA has held its Twenty20 competition.
In other round one games from 1pm to kick off the competition on Sunday, Golden Square is at home to Kangaroo Flat; White Hills takes on Huntly-North Epsom; and Strathfieldsaye meets Bendigo.
Strathfieldsaye goes into the tournament as the defending premiers after beating Huntly in last season's grand final.
