TRADERS hope the Support Small Business Day event will be extended next year.
Local companies took part in the state government and NAB event on Saturday with sales and promotions.
Bendigo Ice Creamery Cafe owner Heather Leech said the day was a "great concept".
"I'd support it every year," she said.
"We thought it was positive and it is well worth another go.
"The customers were quite pleased with it and we'd like to see it happen more often."
Grace Blakemore of Sim'R said her business received a huge influx of customers.
"It's hard to tell whether that's the business day, the weather or the amount of advertising we've had," she said.
"We''ll probably take part next year, or even on a continual basis if it was run a few times a year.'
Bendigo Traders Association president and Handbags on Williamson owner Ross White said he'd seen a spike in sales.
"It's all positive," he said.
"We had an increase of between 15 to 20 per cent.
"With the number of people around the mall and the CBD, it was a great success."
